I know better but a shared bubble bath and oil massage would of been on the menu here with me Love. Hopefully by the end you'd consider the day as a wash. A bumpy start but one hell of a finish.

while YOU laid on your back with your warm thighs spread wide, i would have dived in tongue first and let MY sump pump work its magic to dry YOU of all your juice. ahhhh !! all your tension sump pumped away as i lick my lips

I sympathize with you. I have been there...done that! The worst for me is the "days" of sucking up water as it kept coming in for days (ground seepage) after lengthy days of constant rain. I hate those type of forecasts. [image]

Does the sump pump not switch itself on when the water level gets to a certain height? Or is that what the new part will reinstate when it is fitted? Stormy in UK too, 100mph gusts but thankfully no damage here although I see a tourist in Ireland had their caravan lifted off the ground and dumped in the sea while they were asleep inside.

That made my bad day yesterday seem like a walk in the park. But I've said before, you're a strong and independent lady. You handled the problem like a champ and should be proud of yourself. I'm impressed. Hope today was a better day for you. " I refuse to belong to any organization that would accept me as a member" Groucho Marx

WOW what rotten day. Are you an Aquarius??? I know exactly how you felt about a watered basement. I got up one rainy morning to find 4 feet in my basement ( this was a first!!) and threw the swimming pool pump down the stairs til the fire department came. Everyone on my street was flooded. MY home owner's paid for the cleanup. Get a massage and dinner delivered in (Virtual Symposium Group) use Virtual Symposium Group

Well, to put a funny spin on your day, Mother Nature was providing you with a shower, free of charge, all you needed to do was disrobe & supply your fave soap. As to the basement, she was still giving you a free (well not so free after the cleanup) bath, in a contained area where you could disrobe & bathe as long as you wished, tho am betting it wasnt really bathwater quality. Sometime Mother Nature HAS to give us a reality check. That we cant go along thinking all our time will be pleasent, cuz IT WONT BE, and we have to have that demonstrated to us. I get those reality checks every morning when I try to get out of the comfort of my bed, when I try to do things I could do 5 years ago, hell 2 years ago in fact, that now almost kill me to do, and sometimes I think if only THIS WOULD kill me, I would be better off, NOT ! But I know my words wont bring you comfort, am sorry your day sucked so bad, and hopefully things will be better soon.

Oh no!!! That does not sound like a good day! Glad there is a fairly quick solution for the sump pump. I hope your back is feeling better! "Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is relax." – Mark Black

Oh the joys of home ownership and having a basement. Better to them fixed now than when the rain really sets in.

I feel for you. I got over 15 inches in less than a day here back in June. that was following 3 the day before and another 3 the day after. I don't have any basements here which is good, but it washed out the end of one of our lakes, put a five foot deep gully down the driveway and a 35 foot deep gully out the end of another one of our lakes. a friend of mine woke up to find over six feet of sand around his whole house and yard where six vehicles were parked. he had to call a friend to have them come and dig out a window so he could get out. we could not get out of camp for three days, roads were all washed out. highway 2 washed away in a few spots. you might have seen it on national news. good luck with things.

When it rains, it pours! Glad you hung in there and fixed things!

Nothing like a sump pump not working...had a few events like that happen in a couple of the rentals. A real bummer is the problem is caused by a stuck float. Had so much water in a basement once that I rented an industrial pump. Had to replace the furnace in that house which is now mounted to the floor joist at 4 feet above the basement floor. Buy a large volume submersible sump pump. Good luck.

Mother Nature can sure throw a few punches just to keep us on our toes. I had been following Florence as part of my job... (I worked on finding housing for those affected and work crews) I know first hand how Mother Nature can punch you in the gut... I lost the roof of my house to a tornado once. Had to move out of my house so repairs could be made, which took almost three months. Not a fun time.

It really wasn't very terrifying at the time. I knew it was a bad storm but didn't know the full extent of the damage until the next morning when my father called to ask if I had called someone to replace my roof that happened to be missing from my house. I then walked outside and saw it was true and decided I might want to get that fixed... lol
