"Safety first"!
"Safety first"! First of all, go to school, get a trade! I tell my grandson all the time. I tell him that he won't want to be in his 50s doing a back-breaking job. Working in the transportation field, there is a millions of ways you can get hurt! So when there's big load they suppose to sent two driver together. The lead for the driver was strong on safety and concern for their safety. Now he's in charge of the drivers and the stock keeper. Once they gave him a higher grade, his concern for safety decreased. Safety wasn't a priority anymore. We have a director, that preach safety in her meeting, but she only concern about getting all ticket done regardless and the Matrix system. This is a system her and a few other put together to get tickets done within a certain time limit, regardless or weather. Also regardless, people are sick or equipment is down. If there's bad weather, he once allowed his people to stop work and come back to the yard. But now, he believe if you out, finish the job first. Then maybe come back in. Now with big tickets, he'll send two people, but they in their own truck and working different areas. He don't cut no slack, and not going to lift a finger to help. He turn into a Diva and he's our Union Rep. It's all about the numbers and customers. I guess, when you given money, you got to dance to their music! We had a man who was the safety man for all of Logistics, they promoted him to a manager , he's sing a different tune too! So my question is , "Safety first"? I'm sure they would say, "Not if they putting money in my pocket"! |

I have worked as a QA/QC tech for a few manufacturing companies over the past couple of years. In my experiences, most companies talk a great game when it comes to employee safety but are really more concerned with how much production gets out the door to make the all mighty dollar. I was working for a company, 8 to 10 hours a day, sometimes without getting a break or a lunch. I would complain to the bosses about it until they got tired of my bitching and fired me. I believe the higher up the chain a person gets, the less they care about the bottom people.
