Love Thy Neighbor

No matter where I've lived, my neighbors have always been a pain. I had one who used to complain about the height of my grass after I mowed, since I cut mine lower than his he thought I was trying to make him look bad. Once I walked out my front door to see a neighbor swinging a baseball bat at one of my . His Mom said he was just playing, after further discussion she tried to say it must have been MY fault.

Currently, the house to my right is full of dudes. 3 of them. One is mentally deficient from an alcohol related car accident. He comes over regularly to try and borrow toilet paper. I tell him I don't have any. He used to put love notes in my mailbox for my wife. The other two aren't much better. I've seen them arguing loudly in their driveway threatening to kill each other. I think they're gay, or bi.

On my left there was a lesbian woman who never said a word to us. She gardened a lot in her front yard. When ever I came outside she would pack up her tools and go inside. I guess I was her annoying neighbor. Now a family lives there. The rakes up the leaves every winter and piles them in my yard on the side of my house. The Mom is friendly to me, but I've been told that she hates my guts. Why, I don't know or care.

Last, but certainly not least, my neighbors across the street. Lynda de LaMooch used to live there, which made them tolerable. I actually have a decent relationship with them. The Dad, retired, stands in his sliding glass door, which faces my house, watching. All day. The Mom is daily shit-faced drunk. If she catches you outside your in for 30 minutes of gossip, as she sways from side to side, nearly falling down at times. I've been entertained with some loud drunken arguments coming from their house. I once heard Mom yell,"It's 11 o'clock and your already drunk!" to which I heard Lynda, "Will you two stop! It's fucking Thanksgiving!". Remember, these are the ones I consider "decent". This is as good as it gets.

As I walk out my door, I take a deep breath, and wonder........ What would Mr. Rogers do? Yep, WWMRD? There's only one thing he could do.......
What kind of neighbors do you have?

I used spell check, proof read this so many times I'm bored with it and considering deleting it, and don't see any missing words or letters! See if it sticks this time.

Oh my... I think I would move if I were you! And that's why I live out in the country, on 10 acres. PEACE & QUIET!!!

Have a great day, and be nice to one another.

Yikes! I couldn't stand that. I'm constantly telling my dogs to shut up.

That would be nice, if only I could find something not too far out of town.

The crappy ones a racist family to the north (lots of yelling), a drunk who NEVER showered to the south, have moved on. Across the street is a nice family who will watch people's pets, behind has a chicken coop right at the fence but it isn't much of a bother.

Very quiet and no roads that lead to other places.

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

I love living in the woods.. My street has 10 homes on it and mine it the only one occupied. The rest of the community is on the other side of the intersection and rarely is anyone out in their yard doing anything YEP

Isn't that strange having all those empty houses around you? I would feel like the last person on earth. But I would like the peace and quiet.

Before I moved to Florida, the house to the north always had great neighbors. The house to the house...pains in the ass with barking dogs. Dogs that would bark when I went out on MY deck, in MY yard. One of the chewed through the fence to get to my dogs. He was a mean little shit.

Since moving to Florida, I live in an apartment. I don't hear anything from the downstairs neighbors. The upstairs neighbors are noisy...loud music, what sounds like marching band practice, and occasional arguments (this is the 3rd or 4th neighbor in 2 years, and every one of them has been like this...). The neighbors to the west, we share a bedroom wall. So, yeah...I hear them having sex...well, actually, all I usually hear is HIS orgasm.

My first house had great neighbors at first. To our left was a young couple our age who as it turned out, I had an uncle in common with the wife. We drank a lot together before we had kids. They moved out and were replaced by a Filipino family. The dad was super scared of "strangers", so it took him years to talk to us. Eventually he would share, over the fence, some Filipino BBQ over the fence. The daughter remained scared of us, as dad had spent so long telling her not to talk to "strangers" next door lol. The wife was lovely. To the other side of us was a single older lady who was great. She eventually sold to a young couple, who were pains in the ass. Demanded changes to this and that, yet made no concessions themselves about anything. Renovated the inside of their house at all hrs of the day and night with no concern for the amt of noise they made. We were glad to leave them behind.
Our current house is good. We are at the end of the street, so only have one neighbor on our side. They have, by and large, been good, as have the people across the street.

I have to say living where I do has been quite comfortable.
There's the Hernandez's and Ochoa's who park all six of their
vehicles in their own front yards but still have enough spacce
to set up one of those jump and germ inflatable outfits twice a
month to celebrate their kids birthdays and the occasional
quinceanera where they'll have a local band that plays all
the favorite German polkas but of course with different lyrics.
Last couple of times they had, loosely translated,Timothy and
his 23rd of September dove warriors.Their really tight.

There's the two story add on at the end of the street where a
group of 30 something construction workers live.Where upon
the girlfriends have decorated the house in a style reminiscent
of an animal house frat theme. With gargoyles on the roof and
a pig with wings that meets you at the front door once you cross the
the spectacular weight activated light brite steps leading up to the
flying pig.
We're a street of different ethnicities who make time to tolerate
our own ,as well as the others foibles .We all wave, nod, honk or flash
headlights to each other.Especially right now since most of us are
outside filling sandbags and digging foxholes for the 4th of july and the
downpour of lead projectiles.I think Fred and all King Fridays court
especially that meow meow hot meow meow cat lady could call this
street home. They just wouldn't tell anyone!

Using more than all the road!

The bi guy neighbors I have often do that sawing and hammering shit at night, but mostly working on their truck at 11pm. Now I'm craving Filipino BBQ.

I would like a more ethnically diverse neighborhood with all the personal touches like you describe in your neighborhood. If I so much as open the hood of my truck in my driveway the obviously bored to death old man 3 blocks over will drive by, see it, and call the city to report that I have a non-running vehicle in view from the street. That's a no no around here.

Well, you are a better M's fan than I...I've been to their games, but living this far away...no idea how their season is going! LOL.

Football...that is my favorite sport.

I love watching football, but I played baseball when I was a kid. While I'll follow the standings, I rarely watch a game. So, long and boring. The Mariners are pretty good this year!

I hate most of my neighbors... we're a townhouse community and there's a few slumlords that have bought up a dozen or so homes and enrolled them into the section 8 program. Now we have trash and litter and graffiti and broken down cars and kids playing in the street with zero parental oversight and the list goes on and on and on and yes I'm fucking bitter that my once decent diverse neighborhood has turned into a multicultural ghetto. I've got about two more years left here before I can move and I can't wait!! Neighbors schmeighbors, I want a few acres or maybe a penthouse.

*ahem, rant over

I hear you! The housing authority pulled it's section 8 support from a run down neighborhood because of the high crime and guess where they moved? Right into the NEW section 8 supported duplexes they had just built on the edge of my neighborhood. Guess where all that crime moved? Good thing I've lived here for 23 yrs. I know who lives around here and who doesn't, dang whippersnappers!

My neighbors are boring and respectable (thank god for small favors right?). They probably think *I'm* the lesbian gardener lol.

But the barking dogs -oy. The neighbor to the west, their dog is so dumb that if he looks over the fence and sees me inside through the kitchen window, he starts barking furiously.

OMG! He barks at you when your IN your house? That's too much! I'd have to wonder, if the dog can look over the fence and see you through the kitchen window, who else might be doing the same?

I had a neighbour who would write letters and was leaving it on my car's front window every time I go to work. These letter/stories were long and complicated. He must have a mental illness. One day he wanted to attack my husband, so we moved loosing about $60000 on the sell of our house. Now we have nice neighbours so far, but you never know..
