I was preparing to get somewhat into ham for my off road race car because that is what the majority of the radio equipped teams and officials are on. But from what little I found out the licensing thing is a bit involved. Then, unfortunately, my race partner had issues and the project ended. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Just out of curiosity we had a neighbor who was just like you were talking about the equipment, the Antennas in his backyard.I live in Phx Az where Barry Goldwater's house was only a couple of miles away .Talk about antennas. He was a big enthusiast. What I'm curious about is when we were kids in the early seventies I was told something about a linear or signal boost that was either illegal or you needed a totally different operators license.I always thought it was just a brag from this guy's kid. It's odd I still remember that.Do you have a take on this? Using more than all the road!
